Senior Project Portfolio

Every now and then we find ourselves engulfed by the so many tasks we encounter and try the best to come up with a solution to carefully manage. With this comes a routine we tend to follow and slowly adapt to the step by step process in order to make our lives easier. When something new comes in the way we may lose balance and not overcome this because it was not what we had planned , this is a disruption in the chain.

October 23rd 2013 , a rainy and foggy day. The sun hadn't shown its face all day and the gray clouds were as smoke floating above us. This was an important day not just for me but for my teammates , the crusaders soccer team. That same week i scored the tying goal in a match that kept the team within grasps of playoffs. Playoffs. Who knew what that was because over 10 years the schools soccer team had never made to it and truly now was our time to shine. This was it , all we needed to do was win two more games and that game if won would be one more step closer to our objective. When the ref blew the whistle it was like they let a bunch of wild animals loose. Everyone disputing for the ball trying to take a piece of what seemed to be the only thing left. Pass after pass and play after play it looked like we had this game in our hands. Rain was starting to drizzle down on us and getting heavier by the second. The field was like ice because it seemed like our cleats didn't have enough grip on the ground.

But we played on i was starting to notice that my teammates were getting heavier, there breath intervals were getting shorter and shorter by every stride of their legs. I somehow managed to hold it together until , i was blown on the side. I know they call soccer ‘football’ in other countries but this guy took the word into play. All the breath that i was saving managed to escape my body in one single second. The collision sent a shock wave through my body but somehow, i managed to hold it together. It was now pouring and i was soaked. My hair was wet to the point where it covered my eyes , two undershirts that i was wearing underneath the uniform was adding another 5 pounds to my body. At one point we came so close to taking the victory but the ball was inches away from that white line. Inches away is not going to give us the victory and that was how it ended.

Neither side scoring and neither side losing the match but really we did lose something overall , playoffs. The intensity among us could be cut with a knife , looking at my teammates faces of disappointment and even tears i started to wonder what i was feeling. Was i to mad and disappointed? I was trying to figure out what exactly i was feeling and then it hit me , i was pleased. I started to question myself , when i realized this was a disruption in the chain. We had specifically practiced and set our minds to one objective and not another. If i was mad it would be because we lost the match but we didn't so should i be happy? Yes i was happy because even though we didn't win we played our fullest. This was the end of the journey of a high school soccer team and i would carry on with me that feeling indescribable to a disruption in the chain.
